This one is really frustrating me.

I have a complex issue that requires me to input lots of information and a fairly long remarks entry with many bullet points. By the time I get the last bit of data in and save the issue I am Logged Out, meaning I have to enter all the data again. After the first time I learnt my lesson and copied all my entries to Notepad, but even then by the time I get round to setting it out and entering all the fields I get logged out.

I know the time limit for inactivity for being logged out is a security thing, but firstly I am not inactive, I'm entering data. Second thing is I'm the admin and should have the option of remaining logged in indefinitely. Third I should be able to change the log out time somewhere because it's way too short.

Thanks.

Hi!

Are you using the OfficeClip Hosted Edition or the Installed version? What is the typical timeout you are having? I thought we increased it to few hours, but it looks like you are getting much less. If you wish, you can also email me to my email address (below) and I will have it looked at as soon as possible.

BTW: If you are using the installed version please see: http://forum.officeclip.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=75

Thanks

Installed edition.

As to timeout. It's hard to judge when it exactly timed out. I only know when I go to save an issue that I have spent around 10 minutes working on I get the "you have been logged out", and I have to reenter everything again. The second time I anticipated this and had copied a lot of the stuff to Notepad and pasted it, made a few changes and was still timed out. That time it was less than 10 minutes.

I'll see what I can do with OCTools.

I think there is also a limit put in Internet Information Services. Look at the Application Pool timeout property and if you are using IIS 7.0 there are other settings in the pool.

If it still causes problems, please contact me privately and one of us will remote login and look at your configuration and try to help you out.

I have only just gotten round to entering the timeouts in OCTools. I'm very busy at the moment.

Both timeout fields, application and session, were blank so I guess the timeouts were using your programmed defaults whatever they are. Anyway I've entered generous timeouts for now to see how things go.

I played around with the timings a little and it seems that it doesn't matter what the setting in OcTools is the timeout is around 25 minutes, but I swear there doesn't seem to be any real consistency to this.

I know nothing about IIS and don't want to refer this to our outsourced IT people as they charge like wounded bulls and the boss wouldn't be happy. I cannot allow you access to our server for security reasons (to do with our main client).

Is it easy to have a look at the Application Pool timeout property for IIS?
