There may be many reasons why OfficeClip does not start upon installation, follow these sequence:

  1. Try to run https://server-name/officeclip/systemtest.aspx (where server name is the name of the OfficeClip server (or its ip address)).

  2. If the Step 1 gives any error, then try to follow onscreen instructions to solve the problem. If it still does not solve then try to run: https://server-name/officeclip/enterbugs.html

  3. If the Step 2 fails then switch off all the virus protection on your system and try the Step 2 again.

  4. If Step 3 fails, go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Information Services and then expand the left menu to go to the Default Web Site. Find OfficeClip virtual directory below it. Click the right mouse button on OfficeClip and click on Properties.

  5. Click on the Directory Security Tab and then click on the Edit button in Anonymous Authentication section.

  6. Make sure that the Anonymous Access and Integrated Windows Authentication is checked.

  7. Click on the ASP.NET tab and make sure that the ASP.NET version is set to 2.0.50727

  8. Close this window and then click on the ASP.Net tab and make sure that the asp.net version is set to 2.0

  9. Try running Step 1 again.

  10. If it still does not work then zip all the logfiles at c:\program files\officeclip\8\log folder (for installation at default location) and send it to OfficeClip Support at (ocsupport at officeclip dot com) with as much detail as possible. OfficeClip will be pleased to provide you with free installation support.

Sometimes the default website in the IIS shows error ('Unexpected error 0x8ffe274d occurred' message shows when you try to restart IIS) and the default website does not start. If so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and look for "World Wide Web Publishing Service" and restart it.

  2. If it still fails to start make sure no other programs is using Port 80. Close your virus protection, firewall and any other programs that may be using the Port 80. Repeat Step 1 again.

  3. If the problem still persist you may want to reinstall IIS. See Microsoft knowledge base article: How to remove and reinstall IIS 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 or see this forum article: https://forum.officeclip...lt.aspx?g=posts&t=68

  4. Register asp.net service with IIS after reinstall. Run C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i from a command prompt.

Sometimes you get 404 error even on the html files on the OfficeLCip website. For example, when you try https://localhost/officeclip/enterbugs.html, you get a 404 error.

Try this:

  1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) and go to the OfficeClip application (or website), click on the Basic Settings and note the application pool name.
  2. Click on the application pool found in the above step and click on Advanced Settings...
  3. Change the value of Enable 32 bit applications to false.
